Registering for a library card at the Cliffside Park Public Library requires the following:
A driver’s license with your current address is acceptable for both photo ID and proof of residency. Otherwise, you may bring in passports, recent utility bills, and/or bank statements.
Your card will be valid for 3 years before having to be renewed.
Children must be at least 5 years of age in order to have a card under their name. Anyone under the age of 18 who wants to make a card must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a valid form of ID.
First library cards are free of charge.
Renewals and replacements require the same documents as registration. A renewal is free of cost and will add 3 years to your card.
Replacement cards are $3.00.
If you have a card from another library within BCCLS and are moving to Cliffside Park, you will need to open a card with us to continue using your account. You will need a valid photo ID and/or proof of address with your new Cliffside Park address to switch your account over.
In addition, your account must be clear in regards to items checked out as well as any fees before the change can be made.
You may register for an online card here:
https://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/patronaccount/selfregister.aspx?ctx=1
Please note that digital cards are only usable via Overdrive. You will need to make a physical card in order to check out non-digital items from our library and other BCCLS libraries. It will expire after 1 year.
If you have made a physical card, you may use it to sign into Overdrive as well. You will be given your login information upon registering. Please contact us if you are unable to sign in.
If you live outside of Cliffside Park, but work or go to school here, you can apply for a library ‘courtesy card’ if you meet certain criteria. This card would entitle you to in-person use of our library. For eligibility information please contact the Head of Circulation Services. A list of BCCLS member libraries can be found here. And, review library card application/use policies within BCCLS, here.
